AC/DC

So October looks like it is going to be busy. For some of you, there was a post you may have read about how it was a weird summer and there where things I was looking forward to. Well after that post I found out about AC/DC coming. It is one of those where I think every ticket costs the same type deal. The reason I'm going is that I have never seen them before, and I have no idea when I would get to see them again. I have a pretty good seat. The two odd things is that is a Sunday Show and that the tickets for the seat I got you have to get at Will Call so that might get interesting. I have to get merch and I wonder if they make shirts for 1 year old girls I hope so. Hopefully I'll Have a new Camera by then and they are allowed.

Thanks ASD and state of music

So Many Blogs so Little time. Monday the bandits game pictures I guess and maybe the As Summer Dies pictures. For now the story of where music is at by me....... Yes I wrote every thing in the ""s just wanted to be different then my other blogs.

First of all I want to thank all the bands who performed on Saturday at The Tralf. It has been so long since I have seen a heavy show. I don't use the term metal for multiple reasons. The first is that when people hear metal they want to define what kind of metal a band is. I get why people do that. But just because a band thinks of its self as Death Metal doesn't mean they growl. Even if they do some bands some bands you can understand and some you can't. Another example is Hardcore is a sub type of metal but is it really I'm not sure. The other reason I use the term Heavy is that something can be heavy or sound tormented and not be what some would call metal. Is something Metal if the band becomes pop like say Linkin Park and Korn? But they are for sure heavy. What if a band has a heavy message but it plays the music softly, HA, joking. But there was a band from Buffalo called The Sheila Devine who where kinda like that. One minute Aaron would be signing then it was like a Yell and he was all red on stage. I miss that band I really do. Another quick example was The Tea Party, they where pretty dark and I think heavy in there way but they weren't metal. The other reason why I like to use the term Heavy is because metal has changed over time. For example when I was in High School you had all those "Hair Bands" (hate the term) or what might have been called "Glam". Yes some of that stuff was pretty good by how bands play now it wouldn't be metal. Ok back to the bands does anyone know the name of the last band that Performed they where pretty good and there where a few other bands I liked, ASD, His Name was Yesterday, and then two bands who's full name I didn't catch One's own Blood, and some band from Niagara Falls Something like in progression they where really good to. Again I want to thank everyone and want to encourage people to go out to shows and watch bands.

I'm not your sterotypical metalhead (I don't really think there are as many of them as people think). What I mean is there is this sterotype that people who like this kind of music are young kids, who want to rebel. That is true for some people but if so whats a better way then dance in a pit and get out agression more people should do it. People who listen to metal have no job and do drugs. Again I disagree with that I work and a lot of people who listen to Heavy music have jobs. If they didn't how would they buy shirts, CDs, and go to shows.

Do all must genres have sterotypes? Yes of course they do. It would be nice if we could blow up those little boxes. I admit that I like music that isn't heavy at all. Often though if you are seen wearing a band shirt people think that is the only thing you are into. Yes some people all they like is that genre. Ok back to those bands that might carry some negatives from others Coldplay, Transiberian Orchestra, Christina Agullera, and a few dance songs that I only know when I hear them. I like lots of different bands and Judge them by there sound not the genre. I wonder what the percentage of people who do this is vs. people who only like their genre of music.

I think that the barriers of how music is defined is slowly breaking down. Years ago country was country and pop was pop. But now there has been a lot of crossovers (won't name them) and some songs in the past have been written and performed as rock by one artist and country by someone else. You also have people who sing one way go over to country music like Darius Rucker from Hotie and the blowfish. I admit I have no idea what producers do but I know some of them now do what we would call "Pop" and "country" so the music styles are starting to blend. Heavy music and rap kinda blended some and I don't just mean Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and Kid Rock. When I first heard a Hardcore song oh so long ago (thanks cuse) I don't know who it was but it sounded kinda like rap but it wasn't.

I will admit that I don't read music reviews at all. The reason being is that saying one band sounds like another doesn't mean much. Music is to complex to say they have this part of this band and that part of that band. To know if you like it you need to hear it on CD, the web, or live in some form. A good example of this is I liked Metallica and Guns N' Roses but (if memory serves me right) a friend of mine (Bill if you are reading this correct me if I'm wrong) didn't like Guns because of Axels voice. I totaly get that. The point I was trying to make is how do you find out about new music and saying I don't use magazines. Well you have the radio stations, Music stations like music choice, then video stations that sometimes have more shows then videos like MTV (they have a bunch of stations and you can find music there) or even Fuze or some other station maybe. But the question is how do those bands get to that level. I have no idea other then by playing and touring and word of mouth.

That word of mouth is nice and everything. But I think where a lot of bands are now found out is through myspace (and other social networking sites also). I don't know if that is enough to be honest. Yes it is a good way to sell CDs and get your music out there. But I don't know if the big record companies are looking for bands through myspace or not. What is great about myspace though is that a band can request you as a friend you go and check them out and their songs play if you like them then you can friend them and if not just decline them. Plus then you can find out when they are playing or even buy stuff of there website. I'm not sure how well that really works. I think that this is going to be the wave of the future, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure how the buying of songs through myspace works but for bands who want they can do it or even just say they have the song on itunes, not sure how much of a cut either place gets they must get something I'm sure.

The other thing I like about music on the internet and not only myspace is I think it will help break down the Genre labels. The reason I say this is when you go into a store to buy music most places have it by type of music. It makes it quick to identify and to find what you are looking for. But see on the internet what type of music it is has no purpose. It isn't like if a band is pop you will go oh this is a pop band I'm not even going to listen to it, then just deny the friends request. That label isn't there so you will go check it out. I have gotten requests from bands that where great and other that I didn't like so I declined the one I didn't like (don't know who it was might have been some form of hip hop). This idea works as long as you only ad bands that you think you want to keep up with. If you ad to many bands it can be hard to keep up with them and all their music, so I admit there is a drawback. But see that is more of a drawback in the way the person use the website.

Well if anyone has made it to the bottom congrats. I feel like I had more to say but don't know how to say it, so I'll end it here.

Metallica

So if I post this correctly yes there will be two ads but they feature the worlds greatest band ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fuck all the other bands, HA. Metallica is coming to Buffalo in Nov. 10th I think and tickets go on sale on the 4th same day they go into the Hall of Fame. Awesome. These ads are for their new Guitar Hero Video game. The second one is kinda based on the first one. I'm not sure maybe there will even be a third one who knows.

Yes those are Famous Basketball Coaches I think all from College and not the pros.

Well Hopefully the second video works also.

Greatest Band Ever? Ok Favorite

So something I don't talk about here is my love of Metallica, not in the I want to blow them all kind of way. Oh and also not in the meeting them getting them to sign my arm then going to a Tattoo shop and getting that tattooed, as cool of an idea that is, yes I have seen that. I will admit there are some thing in the past that they have done that I don't don't like. I don't care what the writer of Metalapoclyse says I know there as some Metallica bashes in it, but that is ok. What I like about Metallica.

1. Bay Area Band
2. Like there sound
3. They change there sound
4. With all the different members the core is still the same
5. Except load and Reload each CD has its own sound
6. Amazing live show
7. After James got burned they had a part of their shows when the stage explodes
8. Their fuck you attitude

That is just what comes to mind off hand. They have this new CD coming out on the 12th of this month I can't wait to go out and get it. The video below is "The day that never comes" I like that is sounds like the "Old Metallica" in some parts and new in others it is a great song. Yes I like the old and the new. I'm not one of those metal heads that only likes metal and old style and thinks all these new bands suck, I like all kinds of music and I like how their newer stuff sounds. Once Rob joined the band I was wondering what his creative views if they would change there sound. Not sure about how much impact he had but of the 3 songs I've herd I like them and think it could be a very good CD.

Maybe this will work
"The Day that Never comes"

Now the tough Part is waiting to see if the tour will come to Buffalo. I would travel to see them since I have Before. My current choices are Chicago (would be cool to go there), Boston Might be nice. Yes I think Ackron, OH might be closer but I don't want to go there, Phily might get me killed, don't want to get lost there. I would assume that if they don't come to Buffalo maybe they would do Multiple days in Toronto either would be awesome. Well we shall see what happens. Hey I have to go see them they are from my other home town and they are part of my reason for my user name a lot of places

On a side note my spelling sucks sorry about that and the NFL Football season is a day away and they are having some live kick off thing on NBC and online I guess the entire game is also on. I love Football but not really ready for it and the change in weather it brings.

TiTs (BANDITS UPDATE)

So went to the Square last night and had a great time "The New Deal" and Gelatic (can't spell sorry) where both really good. Oh yeah and all the fine ladies where nice and distracting also. Oh yeah then all the contact high or that lovely smell of it was nice. There is a pretty good review of the bands in the gusto I don't know how to explain there music really. The bandit rally between bands was pretty cool. Hopefully when I more time I will post some pictures we shall see.

UPDATED PORTION

I have heard it called Thursday at the square mostly and have never seen it in print in short form on any thing official, but on everything written it is at and not "in". I wasn't an English Major or anything so I don't know how to explain it but often people use the word at for in and vice versa incorrectly. Unofficially I have heard it both as "at the square and in the square". I can't give any real credit to the first person who I heard or say call it TiTs but I do know must recently it was (e:Chico) I believe when he wrote about how it was crappy this year. So for that reason I went with what is not really correct and called it TiTs. What it should at least be called if I'm doing it that way is T.i.T.S or for those who use the proper name T.a.T.S . In any event I had a great time and like the i version for the simple reason that a lot of people don't really go for who is playing but to eat drink check people out dance and maybe look at some boobies shaking or something.

Here is the link to the gusto article where there are some professional pictures. The one that made the paper I did see in person of the girl with the bag crowd surfing.

I learned from above that Galactic used to have a lead singer who left the band. I thought they where very good and Mr Liff (not sure on spelling) aka the hip hop guy was pretty good. I remember him so I must have seen them before and "The New Deal" where pretty good.

In terms of a Bandits Rally I guess that was a good place to have it. The problem is that for a 15 minute thing it would be tough to do it where there was not something else all ready going on. Who knows maybe some music fans will become Bandit fans. I'm not sure but I thought I heard a lot of people boo the Mayor or was it Chris Collins or was it both. Or maybe they wanted to just hear the players speak. I'm not sure really but Had a nice time.

I wish that I had some pictures with some hot ladies. Hey does anyone know if Buffalobarfly.com goes to the square that would be a good place for them to hook up with. I think it would be fun and funny to post pictures with the caption of some hot lady who's name I don't even know or who is this? or something along those lines. Or even to caption them fake number 1 and 2 and 3 and so on that could really be funny. But take my word for it there where some cutie pies and not all of them where tall and blond I did see a guy and a girl trade a hit for a drink of beer that was pretty awesome then there where these girls who it was taking them for ever to roll up there stuff so some guy gave them the rest of his as they waited to roll theirs up, it was a pretty interesting time. I myself didn't smoke up but for those that chose to have fun that way good for them, unless they are that one dude who looked like Adam Sandler and kept falling down and being moshed around.

Long story short went for the Bandits and had a great time. I'm glad they where there because if they weren't I would have stayed home so "Lets Go Bandits".

In my previous post I mentioned that one of the things that made me reflect back to other recent events was the Jackdaw and dropkick murphey's show. At the time I hadn't downloaded my pictures yet. So I thought I would put them up here. Not sure how good they will be do to the distance and light but here they are.

Klear Stemm

image

I sometimes forget to mention concerts that I think would be good to see if I'm not going to them. I will admit Club Infinity is one of those places that I have never been, but I don't know where it is or how to get there or even home but I would think that seeing both Klear and Stemm in the same night might be preaty cool. I remember a few Years ago Stemm was thinking about a name change since some of the members changed guess that never happened. I just thought about the fact that Monday is the 11th and I have a ticket to go see Barenaked ladies that should be a fun time (don't have any of there CD's). Then On my birthday I'm going to the early show of Trans-siberian Ochestra.

Hoobastank

I have to admit I had a good time last night. I could have had more fun and had a few drinks if I wasn't fealing chilled. Icon is a preaty nice place to see a show I think. The opening band I belive was called Agent Sparks they where good. I was checking out one of the singers but I didn't know she was in one of the bands at the time, oh she was a cutie pie. The second band was Halifax I saw them at Edgefest and even have one of their CDs. I know I liked them but didn't remember any of their music but they where preaty good. But the band I came to see was Hoobastank it is cool to be at a small venue where you can see the guys up close and if someone yells something they hear it. They seem like preaty cool guys. One thing that was kinda funny is they said that they said they had a their CD for sale or if you don't want to get it here then go home and steal it. That leed into the lead singer talking about how it is more important for them that people come to the shows then they sell a million albums cause if nobody came to the show then that would suck ( he didn't use those exact words). After the show they had a signing for anyone who bought merch and that was nice and they thanked everyone for showing up, that was preaty cool. The one thing I wished is that I took my camara I would have been cool to take a picture with them and pictures of them on stage also. I didn't know what the camara policy was there but all in all I had a preaty good time.
