New Home for Anemone

I upgraded my saltwater fish tank to a larger size abut 2 months ago. Everything seems to be well adjusted to it's new environment. Everyone except the bubble anemone. He's been moving around the tank non-stop! I know this usually means the anemone is not getting what it wants. Whether it's more light, or more shrimpy foods. He seems to have everything he wants though; Food, light, space, a clownfish. The maroon clownfish is really unhappy with its symbiont's travelling. As soon as the anemone picks up it's foot, the clown fish will try to hold the anemone down with it's mouth. it's very interesting to watch (maybe not to anyone elses but me). Now, the anemone has settled on a space. It's on the back glass wall by the filter. A most unusual place for an anemone. Oh well. I'm sure it won't last too long before he wants a new spot. Hopefully he'll find one soon so all of our nerves can be settled!

side view/side note: My clown fish has developed a beauty mark, it's really a scar from an old injury (the angelfish and the clownfish took a while before they considered each other friends). This has prompted me to naming the maroon clownfish Marilyn!

P.S. do i look stoned in my new userpic or what?!? hmmm, maybe i'll look for a new one.

Winter is Here

Brrrr...it's cold outside. I hope everyone is somewhere warm with lots of goof stuff to eat! On my way to my families Thanksgiving day feast i grabbed some shots od Delaware park during the wind storm.

Times Beach

I went to Times Beach with (e:paul) and (e:terry). 60 degrees on November 13th is just plain crazy! Times beach is in the industrial part of the city on the lake near the coast guard base. It's the piece of land that was once buffalo's shantytown at the turn of the century. The beach was recently declared a wildlife refuge with a focus on local birds and water fowl. So we've been wanting to check it out for a while now. We didn't see many birds, but we were not being the best birders either. It's interesting that most of this cities nature preserves are on old industrial waste sites.

Last Of The Leaves

lake Erie...Wild & Untamed

yesterday, while i was with (e:terry), (e:paul), and (e:lilho), we stopped at the waterfront. The winds were so strong that the waves of the lake were crashing over the break wall and onto the shore. It was one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. I wasn't able to really capture the scene in my pictures. Partly because i had to stand behind the car window. The water was coming at me sideways and the lens would get drenched before i could snap anything.

Goodleberg Cemetary

Here's a spooky story...today i went with (e:paul), (e:terry), and (e:lilho) to Goddleberg Cemetery out in Wales, NY. We heard about it on PBS the other night. [inlink]matthew,659[/inlink] It's supposedly haunted. By ghost children none the less. The nanny in my had to go investigate. Man, what a spooky graveyard. The name "goodleberg" probably does mean "Hill of the Ghouls." The hundred or so tenants were locals of German and Anglo-American ancestry. Most of them children, probably due to a cholera epidemic that hit the region in the 1830s. Others probably have died traumatically on the grounds, since there were land wars also in the early 1800s. A country doctor (who preformed illegal abortions) lived within walking distance, probably in the 1940s. The bones of his patients were buried all over the hilly, wooded area. It's a bizarre place.And the added hurricane weather buffalo was having today just made the whole experience strange. I'm not a beliver in ghost, but sometime it's fun to "go with flow" as they say.

When everyone was about to leave we jumped in the car, at last minuet i wanted to grab one last pics before it was totally dark out. A minute after the photo was taken (e:paul) and i heard a large "crracckk" and looked about 20 feet down the road. We saw a huge branch snap and crash into the street. If we didn't stop to snag that last pic the branch would surley have hit the car. The we would have been trapped...! with the ghost children! weird!
