City Honors High School & the Masten Avenue Armory

City Honors High School

The school, referred to as "the school on the hill", was built on the highest ground in the city.

The original armory building was built in 1902-1907. It was destroyed in a fire that spread to a nearby church and about 100 homes, making it one of the worst fire disasters in the city of Buffalo.

Previous to the armory and the high school the site was a local cemetery started in 1832:

I'd really like to see this film.

"Preservation Buffalo Niagara is proud to present the Western New York permier of Louis Sullivan: The Struggle For American Architecture on Wednesday, October 6th at 8:00 p.m. at the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre.Â The screening will be introduced in person by filmmaker Mark Richard Smit and is presented by the Buffalo International Film Festival with the support of Preservation Buffalo Niagara."

Driveway

I saw this driveway over on Norwood Ave. It is exactly what I want our driveway to be when it comes time to redo it. I like the concrete curbs on both sides with the concrete landing strip. That leaves room for grass all up the middle. It will be much cheaper to do this style than a full concrete driveway and greener! Blacktop isn't a option, it's smells (and probably is) too toxic.
