Random giggle...

So....

I'm not working today. Which means I can sleep in. Which means I can stay out late the night before.

So, I was looking for something to do. Started calling friends.
One girl said "I'm at the casino with the king of the douchebags".
Then later I got a message that said "uhhhhh. The douchebaggery has begun!"

In the meantime I was talking to a (cute!) friend, and we were trying to figure out what to do, but we are both very indecisive, so it was super painful. We finally decided that we should at least eat. But he didn't really feel like eating in. But I really didn't feel like your usual take-out fare- pizza/wings/subs. So we finally had a brilliant idea: WEGMAN'S! So he picked me up, and we went to wegman's. And it was fun.

But to get back to my story...

So one friend made the douchebag comment. Which I mentioned to the other guy. He said "www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com" I figured he was joking. But, it's a real site. Sort of funny, but sort of taking a somewhat funny idea WAY too far. It's mostly a bunch of people posting pictures like this:

and making fun of them. Apparently there's a whole new 'douchebag' vocablulary that I was unaware of. Including the obvious ('bag) and the derivative ('baguette), and then going on into scrote, scrotology, scrotologist, grieco, bleeth, lobster, etc etc.

But anyway, so I told her about it, and her reply, which I think is priceless:

You mean www.snootyfox.com?

aaaah, hahaha.

my weekend...

So...
I've been spending a good bit of my time working with a dog rescue. Unfortunately, I have been asked not to post about it. But sometimes I do anyway. And this is one of those times.

So yesterday there was a meet-up, bbq type deal outside of Lockport. Lots of people, lots of dogs, lots of beer... it was a lot of fun. And I took a lot of pictures. (and (e:ajay)- you would be proud of me. I was very well-behaved. I promise.)

Here are a few.

image
An unexpected visitor. I'm not sure I would have had the nerve to hold it, I must say.

image
Blue eyes on dogs are amazing. (particularly THIS dog- the other eye is brown.)

image
My fave pic of the evening: a "vicious pit bull" giving kisses and more kisses as people laugh their heads off.

image
"I'm not sleeping! I swear" (snore, drool, snore)

image
Ahhhh, to be a puppy.

freaky weather!

So I can't decide if the sky tonight was simply gorgeous- or more like apocalyptic, with all this freaky wind. I kept half expecting the sky to just open up or something. I was driving home and couldn't help but try to take pictures from a moving car with my phone... And then I think I practically killed (e:Libertad) since he was riding around on his bike (I think also taking pictures) and I was not paying as much attention as I probably should have. But here are some of my pix- I can only imagine what someone with a better eye could have done...

heiroglyphs

A little background- as a kid I was pretty obsessed with ancient Egypt. I wanted to be an Egyptologist. I wanted to be mummified when I died. I did my science fair project on mummies. I had a heiroglyphic rubber stamp set that let me "write" in heiroglyphs. In art class I made a king tut mask out of clay. And I've always wanted to go to Egypt to see the pyramids. And the sphinx!

And one of the guys at work is Egyptian, and today we were chatting and he said he knows some heiroglyphics, and he started drawing on the board... did this whole big fancy thing... he said 'when you see it in a cartouche like this, that means it's the name of a king or a queen'. I said 'cool, is that your name?' and he said 'no- it's yours!' (I said "oh- is the lion an L?" he looked at me like a dummy and said it's not quite that simple. bahaha.)

:D

Is it just me, or does anyone else ever sort of forget that Egypt is in Africa? I mean, of course it is... but Baher (the guy at work) was just joking about even though technically he is, he can't really call himself African-American.

You can blame me if you gain 5lb...

Ok, so I just made these for a cookout this weekend:

image

Oreo Truffles:

1pkg reduced fat oreos
1pkg reduced fat cream cheese
2 colors of chocolate [I used a bag of white chocolate chips and a bag of milk chocolate chips]

Blend oreos in the food processor (or blender) until they are powder
Mix in cream cheese

Roll into balls

Chill

Dip in melted chocolate
Drizzle with other color melted chocolate if you want to be fancy.

They're 'reduced fat', and I suppose gluten-free-
I think that means they're good for me. Health food, really.

  • doh. oreos are not gluten-free. I knew that. Thanks James. Sorry Matthew!

turn over a new leaf

Wow, I haven't posted in a while have I.

Well, peeps, it's done.
Over.

I'm not happy about it, but it was necessary.
We were both miserable, and it was just bringing out the worst in both of us, which culminated in a nasty fight last night.
So it's done.

And oddly enough, I haven't cried.
And I think I might be at peace with it.

Then again... it's only been a day...
But I hope it sticks.

I'm hoping that someday we can at least be friendly, but at least I can finally realize that this had become toxic, and that it was making me a person that I don't want to be, and we need to not talk to each other for a WHILE. He may be great in some ways- but he's not great for me. At least not right now.

So...

Now it's time to re-claim my life, before the summer's over!

woohoo!!

randomo

Ok, so hodown's hello kitty story reminded me of some randomness.

Yesterday I was on the yahoo homepage, and in addition to the thai police/hello kitty story, they also had this one:

"Boy feels 'ripped off' by cougar attack"

basically this kid was attacked by a cougar, and is just pissed that it disrupted his vacation.

And another...
So there are some sick wealthy areas in my hometown.
Including this one 'estate', called Gray Craig. Growing up we knew some people that lived in the carriage house or something, but I've never been further than that and have never even seen the main house or anything. It's really fancy- 12 bedrooms and 24,000 sq ft or something like that.

In any case. Apparently Nicholas Cage just bought the place- for something like $16 million. My dad says it's been in the newspaper like every day.

Well this weekend my parents went to a party at some friends' house, which happens to be across the street, and a car carrier pulled up to unload SIX of his cars. Lamborghinis, Ferraris etc. Apparently he owns 14 houses or something, but I guess they think that since he's actually keeping some cars at this one, that he might actually be planning on spending some time there.

Not that I especially love Nicholas Cage, but I think he'd be the most famous person we've had live in town.

what a shitty night

Sigh...
I'm in yet another of those horrible "woe is me nobody loves me" moods and I hate it.

But I've also been told that it's "very unattractive" to whine about it...

So I'll spare you the details-

I'll just say that I jumped through many hoops, turned down invitations, and pissed off friends and family to get this weekend off to help my 'friend' with his charity event out of town. Not to mention it was his birthday and I was hoping to spend it with him.

And then he left without me, and wouldn't answer his phone for the rest of the day.

So I had this long-anticipated entire weekend off...

alone...

in Buffalo...

The glorious grand finale was when my friends had to escort me out of mother's at 1am in a full-blown crying jag. Blotch-faced, snot-nosed, blubbering tears. In the middle of Mother's.

LOVELY.

And the thing is, i'm not even sure what triggered it. Well I have a clue.

I fucking hate boys.
But I love them.
Or at least one of them.
And he couldn't care less.
And it hurts.
:(

PSA for the veggies...

So I just found this menu laying around for an all-vegetarian indian place-
Palace of Dosas, on 656 Millersport (between sheridan and eggert)

www.palaceofdosas.com

Menu sounds good... Figured I'd pass it on.
