Last day of vacation - That sucks - It was fun though. "Big thing" the family and I did was go to Darien Lake on Wednesday. What a blast! I haven't been there in like 10 years. Man that place got a lot better. They even got new games where we actually won things. I was surprised.

Back to the grind tomorrow and life goes on.

Ok, so apparently there was a ton of oil leaked after Katrina.......

Sorry for the misinformation.

Anyhoo, the whole thing still blows. We're taking it, and we're taking it hard.

There is no incentive for Ford, Chevy, Dodge to go green, and their consumers can't afford too.......and that "my friends" (I fucking hate when he says that....is the whole problem with things...

Like me. I would love not to buy from China. I would love to shop at the Lexington Co-Op, I would love to buy everything American.....But, my money isn't infinite, So, I shop at save-a-lot, go to Wal-Mart, and go to Family Dollar at Virginia and Elmwood way too often. I can't afford to do the right thing. Most people can't, and the more people that can't the more job we loose and so the big circle continues.

When did everything become a rat race to the bottom line? Ford shouldn't need incentive, tax breaks or any other handout to do the right thing. They used to be an American company. There used to be some sort of loyalty to country, God, Etc. Now it's all money.

To me common sense would say that if a company strapped on some balls and did the right things, that consumers would follow....., they could even market it that way, Buy our product, save America, save the word."

Where's the leadership? Where's the revolution? Where’s the passion?

And something else completely boggles my mind..... I thought we had trade restrictions and the like on countries that treated their citizens like shit and such....so why do we do so much business with China? What runs our country, laws, or money? (Just greed)

However, I am excited. I do feel the wind of change in the air. I think enough people are starting to get pissed off. Too many politicians are loosing the decade old seats, etc.

AND if Buffalo can bounce back, I'm convinced anything can. We were counted out for way too long and look at us now, there's no stopping us.

The stimulus checks were really a small form of government bailout. Don't assume that everyone that got one went out to their local big box store and bought more "stuff." My feeling is a good part of it went to pay down already ridiculous debt levels.

I personally feel the stimulus checks were a bad idea. It would have made more sense for the government to issue some sort of voucher that could only be used to purchase goods made in America. I don't understand how exporting even more money to China will improve our economy.

I don't shop at the Coop. I am boycotting them because they have a 500% markup on stuff they buy from GUERCIO'S. Their bread is from Dolci. They are local, alright, but that doesn't justify marking up things to pump up the snob value and cater to the local rich. Local stuff is ALWAYS cheaper. I would strongly recommend that you shop at Guercio's instead. (Lafayette and Grant). Not only are they local, they are WAAAAY cheaper than the coop and even Wegmans. Their produce is fresh and the staff are very friendly. Their variety is mind-boggling. I am a BIG fan of the store and not a fortnight goes by without a elaborate expedition to the store. It is the closest thing to a genuine farmer's market within the downtown zone. Oh and they have the best hummus right at the very back, they also have the cheapest cheese, and they have a HUGE baby spinach bag that I am in love with. They supply all the local "gourmet" restaurants so they have a massive turnover and things are relatively fresh. Check out my grocery reviews for the Coop and Guercio's.

I'm not sure where to start. I'll start with china. We trade with them for one reason to keep them happy. See if china is happy then they will do what we ask. America used to be the biggest and baddest and we kicked Russias ass and they lost the cold war and we won. But that is a war we would never win with china ever. I don't care that we have the badest army on the planet and that we are the masters of killing. They have 1.6 billion people and all they would really have to do is stop there one child policy and in 12 years have there next army. Who would the Chinese resturants and shops and Accupressure places be loyal to. But a war isn't where we would lose the most, big deal we say sorry and it might not be to bad if we where smart. The real place we would lose is in buisness. In china they can make things much more cheeply then we can here. Since things are cheeper big buisness wins and makes all kinds of money. Who cares if the american worker loses jobs cause they don't count it is only about how much money they get from there stocks and the percentage of profit they make. But what these greedy people don't understand is that if you buy enough from china and enough Americans lose there jobs then there won't be anyone to buy the shit you are selling. But luckily there are lots of jobs in this great country of ours that don't use stuff from china, Yet. I'm not saying getting stuff from china is all bad but there needs to be a balance where things are bought or made when needed and not based on greed.

I do think that "the balls" are gone and that things are all about profits and greed. That being said it is nice when companies do give back to local communities and more of that should be done. But it should be done as a part of doing good and not as a way to have an ad about them doing good and get there name out and get people to buy there stuff. That being said often when you do something you love and you get paid for it you then start to do it for the money instead of the love (there is a term for that, that is why often people who have a hobby don't turn it into a buisiness). I won't say there isn't any passion in business but I think a lot of it has been lost someplace. I mean in big ones not some local shope where the person lovels bikes so they open a bike place. I think that often the things that make something take off like a car company are often the opposite of what is good for people. It would be great for Chevy to figure out some way to make their cars more green but lets face it, that takes a lot of reserach and Big Oil gives the government lots of money and do you think they will then stab them in the back and tell chevy her is 100 million find something that replaces gas, no cause then they don't get the oil money. The game is rigid. What I'm hoping is that some Japanese company (yes they are more productive, thats why chevy has a problem with american axle) that is doing better figures out a way to make more cars green. Now in terms of greed factor what if said company keeps the rights to it and then gets the rights to that same fuel. If say Toyota came out with a car that ran on a water/oil mix and they also made that and even sold it at $2.50 and wouldn't sell it to anyone else and tried it in Jappan then moved had the money to say sell it only at shell buy some gas stations they would put chevy and ford out of buisness.

I do agree with you that there is hope. I think there are some really passionate young people now a days that you never hear about, we shall see.

What's with all the rain and the gloomy weather this summer? It sucks.

We're lucky though. It beats the flooding, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, mud slides, and earth quakes. I'll take it.

I'm really hoping the weather holds out for Thursday. We're taking the boat out and I'd love to catch some fish, crack open a few cold ones and just bake in the sun for awhile.

San Francisco just had their 38 pride parads today, their biggest one yet - Congrats to all of you who just got married. I hope N.Y.S. does the right thing and make it legal here. Small steps. We'll get there. Bruno resigning will help in that effort.

Gas prices are ridiculas! Cost me $50.oo to fill up again. I don't know how people buy the price bullshit coming from the feds...."It's because of China and India" BULLSHIT! It went up almost $1.00 in the last month alone. Just BAM........all of a sudden China and India used that much oil in one day? Wish we could grow our economy that much in one day.

I think that Obama is going to find that a lot of American think we should be drilling over here. It's not the solution, But it's a piece of the pie. Everyone complains anout oil spills and the like.....but when's the last time we had a spill? Look at Kartina.....to my knowledge there were no oil spills.

There, that will piss of the Elmwood enviromentalists.

I would love to watch America go green. But the technology just isn't thre yet.....So we go electric...... Won't we just burn more coal in the electric plants?

Right now those hydrogen cars cost Chevy $1million a piece. I can't even affort to buy a hybrid, let alone a Smart Car or something like that. So in the mean time I'll keep getting greased at the pump. It sucks. And I can't take the bus. For work I have to be available to take a deposit or get change from the bank.......I'll just go on the metro with a sack of money......The franchise owners will like that.

Maybe our next presidient won't have Saudi Arabia in their back pocket or vice-versa.

I worry about our American dream, I'm finding that I can't afford mine anymore.

In terms of gay Marriage I do hope it becomes legal in NYS. That being said It would be nice if the Niagara falls Mafia and want to be mafia and local 210 or what ever number they are all got cleaned up so the falls would be a nice place to get hitched. Ever since I was a little kid about every 2 or 3 years there is this huge awesome thing to come to the falls and it never happens. Oh yeah the water park went out of buisness you know that same thing that is part of a resort on the Canada side. Now I'm so pissed I want to grab a pipe and go beat someone. maybe I'll start with the former mayor or maybe I'll go find the donald who passed money around to Keep Casino's illegal. hey it was the US side who thought about Casinos first, ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH. Well i do hope NYS does the right thing and makes Same Sex Marriage legal.

In term of the enviorment here is what I don't understand. When I was a little kid growing up on the west side of Buffalo You had LaNova and then about 2 or 3 blocks away on grant st you had Mr. Pizza and they had the glasses with there symbol on it and they tasted much better then LaNova but they didn't have wings. But there is one thing they did have Electroic Cars. That is right every car they had plugged in and they delivered pizzas in them. If that was when I was a kid why hasn't that taken off. I understand that you can't take long trips with them but still there should be some form that is better then a hybrid. Why not instead of having gas stations have a place with solar panels that collects light and even gets some stuff that passes through the clouds and then you store it and people then use that to charge there batteries. Granted things like AC and the radio use some juice but you just have a small one for that. I'm not a scienctist but it seems like there are ways to make cars run on other things then just fossil fuels. In brazil don't the use pure alcohol. Why not build 10 giant sky scrappers and grow what you need hdryoponicly to make pure alcohol. On a side note what is wrong with china, bikes are great you are a crowded country don't buy cars and we shouldn't sell them cars, oh but we are greedy. Hey it looks like our own greed will kill us all.

I love confrontation, sorry - what I got out of those news article links that most of the Katrina oil problems were caused by storage, not actually from the drilling. That "my friends" is where the Republican get the talking points from......

Regardless......Drilling is not the answer.
